Obituary of Yehia Sirry

SIRRY, Yehia El-Sayed                                        September 21, 1941 - April 26, 2019

Yehia passed away peacefully at London Health Sciences Center, Victoria Campus surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years and his children.

Known for his kind heart, his calm demeanor and his comical faces that delighted children, he was a caring and patient husband to his wife, Margaret (nee Kretz), a dedicated father to his children Ned (Sheri) & Amy (Rob) and fun-loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Mitchell, Will, Luke, Reid, Joshua and Beth.

He will be dearly missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Laila and Nabil Kheir, his many nieces and nephews and his sisters and brothers-in-law.

Yehia was pre-deceased by his father, El-Sayed Sirry, his mother, Malaka Mohammed, his brother Wahid (Fifi), his mother-in-law, Kathleen Kretz and father-in-law, Anthony Kretz.

Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Yehia developed a passion for living life to the fullest.  He had many hopes and dreams and he excelled in those that he was lucky enough to pursue.  In his younger years, he was a champion ping pong player.  As a father and then grandfather, he enjoyed playing ping pong and backgammon with his kids and grandkids.  He was an accomplished swimmer and he continued to enjoy swimming throughout his life.  But his true passion was aviation.  He loved planes and always dreamt of flying.

Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle- we will miss you terribly, but please rest in peace knowing that our hearts will be full of loving memories of you.  We are certain there will be all- you- can- eat ice cream sandwiches in heaven!

A special thank-you to the wonderful staff on Birch Walk at Dearness Home and to CCAC and the PSWs that helped care for Yehia at home.

Please join us as we celebrate Yehia’s life on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 1-4 pm at the Berkshire Club, 500 Berkshire Dr, London.  A private family interment will precede the celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Parkinson’s Society.  https://parkinsonsociety.ca
