I was just checking Facebook to see if I could find my old friend Darren and am so sorry to have found this instead. It’s been so long since I lived in Toronto and worked at Council Fire but meeting Darren that summer was a blessing. He and so many of his friends taught me important life lessons. I was just a teen on a practicum for school but I am so glad to have known him for even that brief time. Wish we could have reconnected all these years later. Giga Waabamin Minawaa my friend. Darren was a childhood friend that was full of life and fun. He lived a difficult life and he rose to every challenge that came in front of him. He had a heart of gold and help those he could. I wish I had the opportunity for one last hug because I would have loved to show him what he meant to me. RIP my dear friend.

Darren, I can not believe you are gone. I have so enjoyed you over the years and so thankful for Facebook. We were able to reconnect even though miles apart. You always shared such inspirational messages and I loved your posts about your beautiful fur babies. I am so heartbroken over your passing. My condolences and prayers to your loved ones, your wife and daughters and grandchildren. I am so happy you were able to share time with them. You have had such an amazingly difficult life but you never cried about it. You lived life on life's terms and took lemons and made lemonade.
