Obituary of Ida Newton
Born September 18, 1925, in Darlaston England, Ida died peacefully after a brief illness in London Ontario on June 18, 2019. Predeceased by her husband Reginald (1988), brothers John Foster (1996), Herbert Foster (2001), sister Eileen Clamp (1999) and parents Clara (1976) and George Foster (1958). Loving mother of Christopher (Marlies Sudermann) and Paul (Jocelyne). A dear grandmother of Jonathan, Alina (Lindsay Waterman) and Brendan.
Ida and her family emigrated to Canada in 1961, and she lived much of her life in Cambridge (Galt) Ontario. In her later years she moved to London, Ontario. While she was proud to have become a Canadian citizen, she always remained English at heart. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed being a member of the Cambridge Garden Club. Ida had an artistic side and she received several gardening and flower arranging awards. A woman in some ways before her time, in the 1970’s she began practicing and teaching yoga at the Galt YWCA and it remained a lifelong passion. She will be sadly missed by her family.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the people who cared for her so well in recent years at Horizon Place, London, Mount Hope nursing home, London, and London Health Sciences Centre.
Cremation has taken place. Private scattering of ashes is to occur at Woodland Cemetery, London at a later date.
