Obituary of Robert Martin Wales
Robert Wales or Rob as many knew him was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor and a passion for cars, motorcycles, and Baseball. He lived in Southwestern Ontario for most of his life where he worked as a Mechanic for many years. He and had 2 brothers (Dave and Brian) a sister (Linda) along with many nieces and nephews. He met the love of his life Sue and they had a 43 year marriage together and a son Brent. Rob loved being able to pass on his love for Baseball to Brent and spent many years coaching his teams and watching him play.
He enjoyed the outdoors and would spend lots of time taking walks all over the city with Sue and of course never passed up spending an afternoon watching Baseball at Labatt park. Occasionally, he had fun getting creative in the kitchen and would try his hand at new recipes. He was always fond of traditions around the holidays and made sure to make a Pumpkin pie and helped Sue with a Lemon Meringue Pie for when Brent and his wife Alicia came for visits. He enjoyed travelling when he could and he and Sue loved going on day trips to see the sites all around Ontario. He spent his free time working on model cars; bikes and going to car shows.
Rob was a fighter; faced with many health battles he forged onward with the strength and positivity like no other. Through 3 Kidney transplants over the years he never passed up a moment to make a nurse laugh or provide encouragement to another dialysis patient. He kept the doctors on their toes and even through some of the hardest times he was always the one cracking a joke in the room to lighten the mood. He will be missed by so many who were a part of his life!
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Cremation has taken place and a small gathering will be held on a later date.
