Obituary of Karoly Nagy

Karoly Laszlo Nagy

March 23, 1928 – September 17, 2020

Peacefully, on Thursday, September 17, 2020, Karoly (Charlie) passed away in his 93rd year.  Loving father to Gabrielle (Ken) Gordon, Karoy, and Vicki (Jim) Sweeney.  Devoted grandfather to Scott, Jeff, Simon, Sabrina, Aidan and Liam.  Proud great-grandfather to Chelsea.  Dear brother to Ilonka.  Predeceased by parents Ilona and Gyula and brothers Sandor, Bela and Miklos.  Charlie will be fondly remembered by many family and friends in Canada, Australia and Hungary, including his children’s mother Julianna.

He immigrated to Canada in 1973 and worked at Ford as a maintenance electrician for 17 years.  Upon retirement, he pursued his passion for gardening, growing grapes and making wine on his hobby farm near Mount Brydges.  He loved his dogs Buddy, Penny and Nooshy.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Maple View Terrace Retirement Home, Chelsey Park Nursing Home and LHSC-University Hospital for all their wonderful care and kindness.

Cremation has taken place at Woodland Cemetery and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  As per Charlie’s wishes, he will be laid to rest with his mother, Ilona Szebik, in Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary when COVID restrictions have lifted and the family can travel.

Donations in Charlie’s memory to Diabetes Canada or London Humane Society would be appreciated.
