Great words ladies, I am very sorry Nicole and Sarah. So many good memories growing up one that actually struck up as you mentioned about his license plate, I do remember that well, my brother and I thought he was the coolest uncle ever having the Pert license plate and I mean the coolest kids on the block!

My deepest condolence to Nicole, Sarah and their family. Charlie has been part of my life since the late 60's. His brother Allan lived in the basement of the triplex I lived in with my parents. Charlie was like a big brother to me. He was a very hard worker and very kind. I will miss Charlie very much.

Beautifully written obituary. Even if i didn't know a ton about Charlie, I knew for a fact he loved his girls and his grandkids
We were fortunate enough to have Charlie as a neighbour for the past 7 years. He was always walking over with a beer in hand when I was renovating the house. Hed naturally give his two cents on the process and progress and i felt obliged to crack a cold one with him.
He spent what seemed like every waking moment on the front porch which has a perfect vantage point to keep on eye on his fellow Barker neighbours. If you walked by and he didn't stop you to small talk then you likely weren't up to any good.
If you needed to find out any neighbourhood gossip, whether it was completely accurate or not, you just had to join Charlie on the porch for a home brew.
A staple in our daily lives has been looking out in the morning and seeing Charlie having a coffee on the porch, looking out at lunch and seeing him possibly having a beer, looking out at dinner and maybe another.
He was our barometer.... if he had a jacket on in the morning, I'd dress warm. A t shirt, perfect weather. Shirtless, it was gonna be one hell of a hot day.
We've been looking out the window for the past week and feeling a void. The guy we saw rain or shine, every day isn't there and it just doesn't feel right. I'll continue to wave towards the porch every morning. We'll miss you Charlie
You'll have a lifetime term as the mayor of Barker st.
Rest easy friend
