Obituary of David Leslie Dickout

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of David Leslie Dickout on June 24th, 2021. Our beloved father passed away at University Hospital in London, Ontario surrounded by family. Dave fought a difficult battle with dementia in the last few years of his life.

Dave is deeply missed by his children Dan (Kate), Cate (Tom), Kristen (Geoff), and Andrew (Amanda). He will also be greatly missed by his seven grandchildren who were the light of his life, right until the end. Dave leaves behind his siblings Marnie, Sue (Bruce), Jane (Mike), and sister-in-law, Louanne. He is recently predeceased by his brother and best friend, Bruce.

Dave was born on September 3rd, 1952 in Brantford, Ontario. Dave was the eldest of 5 siblings and never shied away from his role as a big brother. Dave is predeceased by his mother, Glennie (2015) and father, Leslie (1961).

You could always find Dave at his business of 40 years, Answer Engine Works or at his family cottage in Southampton, Ontario. Dave had a passion for all cars, with a special love for the classics. Dave loved water sports and happily took up wake boarding at 60 years of age. He was incredibly physically active whether he was running on the beach, snow and water skiing, or keeping up with his grandbabies.

The family would like to thank the staff at UH for their care and compassion for Dave and his children. Cremation has taken place. Due to the pandemic, a celebration will be scheduled at a later date. In remembrance of Dave’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
