Obituary of Dorothy May Collins

Dorothy May Collins, 93, of London, passed away peacefully at 6:15 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at University Hospital in London, Ontario. She was born on September 14, 1923 in Guernsey, Channel Island, to Captain Harvey William and Florence Bonner.  She was formerly married to the late Donald Collins and partner to Cecil Smith (deceased).

She is survived by her daughter Deborah Marin (Fiorenzo) of London, two grandsons, Jeremy (Mounira) Marin of London, and Tyler Marin of Vancouver; and her sister Phyllis Corry of Victoria,B.C. She was preceded in death by her late brother, Harvey G. Bonner of New Westminster, B.C.

Dorothy grew up in a military family and moved between Victoria, Camp Borden and Ottawa before she became a long term resident of London. She was often seen sitting in Cherryhill Mall in her favourite spot.  She possessed a caring and vibrant personality and was dedicated and supportive of her family; to whom she inspired with her strength, independence, wisdom, and funny yet sharp wit. She adored her grandsons and never passed up the chance to spend time with them.

A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
