Bernice Hill

Obituary of Bernice Lillian Hill

Bernice Hill (May), in her 96th year, passed away peacefully at home on January 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 68 years, Gordon.

Bernice was a remarkable individual whose life was filled with love, warmth, and an adventurous spirit. She had a deep passion for the outdoors and activities such as hiking, canoeing, tai chi, downhill & cross country skiing. Her love for these pursuits not only brought her personal happiness but also created cherished memories with family and friends, while at the same time finding immense joy in dedicating her time and expertise to others.

Bernice will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and nurturing nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the satisfaction that comes from embracing life's adventures. Our Mom made sure that her 3 boys were introduced early in their lives the arts of cooking and baking, knitting and crochet, exploring, tennis and all the other activities she loved. Mom and Dad explored from the east coast of Newfoundland to the west coast of Victoria Island and to the Northern Most sections of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec (note: many times over). We can’t forget the Yukon, another one of their go to places. They were always together with their trusted canoe in the backwaters of Canada and camping gear, living the life.

Bernice was the Founder and driving force behind many successful Volunteer/Charitable organizations throughout her life. Two of her most notable were the creation of Dale Brain Injury Services and the Agape Foundation. It must be noted that it would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of Gordon Hill & Reg and Ruth Hill. Our family appreciates so much the dedication, time and passion the many Board Members and Volunteers past and present have committed to these foundations.

She is survived by her sons, Rob (Sherry), Don (Marleen), Ken, sister Lois, very proud grandmother to Brad (Veronica), Brett (Emma), Heather, Blake, Bryan (Hannah), great grandmother to Jasper, brother in law Bruce and nephew Les.
