Dear Lesley, Monica, Lexi, Karly, Kate, Mitch, Rick and the entire von Dehn Family, We were so sad to hear the news about Rob. Having known Rob since childhood, we recently got to know him better these last couple of years as we spent more time in Bayfield. We were so happy when Rob and Leslie stopped by to say hello, always a cheerful and happy visit. Rob spent a great deal of time cleaning up down at the lake and we last saw him loading up the wheelbarrow with large rocks to clear our beautiful beach. Bayfield will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences to you, Sylvia, Patrick and Nikola Haak

Dearest Lesley, Lexi, Karly, Kate, and Mitch,
Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Rob was my partner on night shift for many years. He spoke of the many loves of his life - his wife and children, cottage, travelling, family. I will always remember Rob putting a puzzle piece in while making his daily tea when he came in and around 7am. I will cherish the chatting, bickering and debates that we had over the years. I am forever grateful for knowing him and will be deeply missed.

So sorry for your loss!. Rob and I worked many years overnight together. You always knew he had your back. Lots of laughs, tennis debates and poker game tournaments to see who got bragging rights for the night. An absolute great guy! He will be missed ❤️

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Rob was the brightest smile and biggest heart I had known and had the privilege to work with. Every Monday and Tuesday, he always had a story to tell about all of you. Rob spoke of you all every shift. You all were his pride and joy and love’s of his life. No words can express how amazing of a man and co worker Rob was and always will be. Rob will be missed beyond words and work is never going to be the same. I also miss the daily text updates about you all and his daily updates of what Rob was up while Rob was off work. Thinking of all of you during this time.
Love Amanda

Dennis and I were so shocked and saddened to hear of Rob’s passing. We have only known Rob as a neighbour for a few years but during this time he made a huge impression. He always took the time to chat and talk with us and had the warmest smile and eyes that sparkled. He spoke so fondly of his family and gave us updates on their lives.
We cannot grasp that we will no longer see him walking to and fro, coming and going in our community. He will be missed more than words can say.
Our hearts go out to Lesley and all of the Von Dehn family. We are so sorry for this great loss. May you find strength in the love of family and in the support of friends at this sad time.
In friendship and in sympathy,

Here’s how I first met Rob… we had just started 2nd year of University and I had twisted my ankle in a basketball game and was on crutches. Rob didn’t know me yet but had seen me in a couple of classes that we were in together. Then one day, while I was hobbling around outside, a car pulled over and a strange voice yelled out to me, “you look like you need a ride”. Of course it was Rob. I hopped in his car, he drove me home, and I instantly knew he was the kind of person I’d want to be lifelong friends with. And we were. I now cherish all the great times we had together and will never forget him. I will miss Rob so much and am so sorry Les and family that this has happened to a truly great man.

Lesley and family, please accept my condolences on Rob's passing. While I worked with him for 25 years, for most of that time we were on opposing shifts so I didn't get to chat much. He never failed, however, to say hi and bye as he walked by my desk and I will always remember his smile when he would head to the kitchen for a cookie before he left on mornings when I would bring baking in. I also had the pleasure of spending some time with him at last year's Xmas party. He will be dearly missed by all here at Connex.

My heart goes out to the entire von Dehn family for the loss of a wonderful son, father, husband, and brother. Rob was a kind hearted and vibrant personality who always livened up the room the minute he walked in. He had an abundance of energy for fun, and to support those around him. He was a Family First guy who prioritized the well being of his family over his own personal interests, and spent as much time as he could surrounded by family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, and I am very sorry for his passing.

Lesley , family and Monica, Paul and I want to send you our deepest sympathies. Rob was one of the first people to welcome us to Pridham! He was always so friendly and took the time to chat with us. It was obvious the pride he had in the cottage and the beach. He jumped in to repair and clean up whenever he heard there was something that needed doing. He will be truly missed at the cottage. We are heartbroken at the loss of our beloved cousin and friend. All who knew Rob, knew what an especially loving, caring and supportive person he was. When Rob was in kindergarten his teacher asked what the children wanted to be when they grew up. Rob, not influenced by all the responses of firefighter, policeman and astronaut said "A Dad". He was not only an amazing Dad but wonderful husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend to many, rock and lynchpin of his extended family and community volunteer in both London and Bayfield.
Dear Lesley, Lexie, Karly, Kate and Mitch our hearts are with you and the many others who have lost so much.

Leslie and family I extended my sincere condolences on the loss of your dad and partner. I enjoyed seeing Robs smiling face every morning and the sharing of his stories and adventures with all of you who he loved so dearly. Rob was everyones father at work the hole he leaves in our team can not be measured in numbers. His love of anything Burger King and his frugal ways were often some of my best belly laughs. Rob gave in his professional capacity that was in keeping with his humble nature and made him so relatable and admired by all that were lucky enough to know him. Rob was a super human and will be missed but remembered everyday. May peace and light find you and keep you all surrounded in the love of a great man, father and friend.

Rob’s absence will leave a gaping, heart-shaped hole in our lives. He was a warm and generous brother-in-law. I watched his unrivalled devotion to his children, his love of travelling with his wife, his master fire-building skills, his appreciation for a good walk after a family meal, and his curious nature as he asked and learned about the funniest details. He loved and took care of so many people but his legacy is truly his four incredible children. They are a testament to what an amazing Dad he was. RIP Rob.
