It has been just over a year since the passing of this incredible human being. I had the pleasure of meeting this family later in life because of my now-husband Albert Baetens, son of Maurice and Maria Baetens. My time with Maurice was short and impactful, I met a man who embraced life and his family with the same zeal. He wanted only the best for everyone he came in contact with. I could always learn more about a valuable part of history with every conversation. He was a man who wanted the world to know about the accomplishments of family and friends alike. I was deeply honored when he stepped in to walk me down the aisle toward the loving arms of my amazing husband Albert. Maurice instilled valuable lessons in his children that have led to an amazing life with Albert. His passing is something I still struggle with which time will temper. I will always consider it a great privilege to have known him until the time of his transition. I will be forever grateful to Father Baetens for passing on love and lessons that the world is desperately in shortage of. Thank you, Dad, for making me feel like family.

Maurice and Maria came into my life as the father-in-law to my brother Chuck. Maurice was never anything but kind to me and always welcoming. We enjoyed many family events together from Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and general family gatherings. He was quick to laugh with a wonderful smile. He always had something nice to say and was always a happy person. There is one more star shining brightly in the sky tonight. Those that are truly loved are never lost and live forever through us and our memories. I am very sorry for your loss but will always remember how much we gained through having Maurice in our life.
