Richard was my very first business mentor in the mid 90s. We also became good friends when I was a single guy relocated to Quebec to help him run a branch in DDO. We played catch on our lunch break, golfed on weekends, talked about family, friends and life in general - one could say he was also a father figure to me as I lost my father to cancer when I was 9. What a kind, giving, patient, gentleman he was.
Rest in peace Richard.

We have so many special memories of the “great” times we so enjoyed, with Rick and Irene.
We camped together, drank together, dined together, laughed together and our kids played together!!
Rick loved to laugh and have fun and his laugh will always echo in our minds!
We will forever say, “remember the time”!
Our heartfelt sympathy to Irene, Jason, Chad and Nic and all the rest of his family! ❤️

I remember the first time I met my future father in law, almost 30 years ago. It was on my very first date with Jason, going out to a beautiful Greek restaurant in Montreal on a warm summer night. Although a first date with someone’s parents could have gone wrong in so many ways, Richard made me feel welcomed and comfortable from the start. Not only was I welcomed into the family with open arms that night, but I saw what a great relationship Jason had with his parents and that sealed everything for me.
Richard, you always treated me with kindness and respect, as more than just a daughter-in-law. You were always the first to include me in everything, always the first to tell everyone, “Let her laugh…never stop someone from laughing” whenever I had my laughing fits. You embraced my Montreal sense of style by remembering exactly what I wore the first night you met me and praised me for wearing my French beret on that winter sleigh ride in Cornwall. I will smile to myself every time I remember those lace up granny boots that you remember me wearing that fateful night at the Greek restaurant and the way you told me to wear my beret proudly on that cold winter’s night. You will be more dearly missed than you can imagine.
Thank you for always loving my children with every ounce of love that you had, that unconditional love for your grandchildren is a true measure of a great man. Behind every great man is an equally amazing Dad. I wish I could have met the great man who raised you, as I see many of your qualities that you passed on to Jason, and to my children. Such qualities as strength of character, confidence, kindness to others and an attitude of never giving up. To the very end, you never gave up, but merely let yourself return home.
May you rest in peace for all eternity and be a guiding light to all who cared and loved you. I hope that you never stop yourself from laughing every time you look down at us and remember all the great times that we shared, and I hope that with every tear that we shed that your wings grow stronger, giving us hope and faith that your fight was not for nothing , but was instead your gift of time to us.
Je vais pensais à toi et je vais sourire à chaque fois que je vois un béret, et a chaque fois que je vois des bottes à lacets…..je te souhaite la paix dans toute l'éternité. Tu nous manquerez énormément mais ne sera jamais oublié.

Our sincerest condolences to the entire Brunet family. We've lost a true treasure, but his teachings will live on. Rick was a larger than life presence in any room he entered. He was a mentor who had a passion for business, music, friends and most of all, his family. He fought one of the toughest battles of his life with grace, courage, wisdom and dignity. We will miss his stories, his smile, his kindness and his sense of style. We are grateful to have called him our friend. I (Janet) always teased Rick about fingerprints on his glass desk... little did I know he would forever leave a fingerprint on my heart.

My sincere condolences to the entire Brunet family. We have lost a friend, a mentor and lifelong golf buddy. Together we hosted many memberable golf trips, with Rick managing the minute details to ensure everything was perfect. Titanic struggles between teams from Quebec and Ontario with our token American,Bobby Myers and telling stories afterwards with a great dinner and many bottles of wine always brings back great memories.
Salute My Friend!

Dear Irene, Jason, Chad, Nick and families,
We are heartbroken to hear Rick has passed. We have so many great memories of him most especially his laughing at our American/NY dialect...."wat?" And of course, his love of Miller Genuine Draft. We have been blessed to have him in our lives. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We miss you very much and plan to see you at the end of the month. May your love and memories help you through this time of grief. God Bless.
Love,
Alecia and Gary

My deepest condolences to the family for your loss. I have known Rick and worked with him since the early 1990s. He is a man of class, dignity, strong character and outstanding business skills. Clearly, his family was the centre of his universe.
Rick will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. He leaves a lasting legacy and wonderful memories for those of us who had the honour of knowing and working with him.

I knew Rick and his family for many years. I enjoyed his company on the golf course, our trips to Florida and working with him for a few years. He was a mentor, coach and true friend. He was a loving husband and Father and a shining example of great human being. He will be missed by all his Friends and Family, but his memories will live on.

My grandfather was the kindest, most hardworking and genuine person that I have ever come across. He instantly brightened up any room he walked into and made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered; our own shining star. He taught me a countless number of lessons that I cherish and will apply to the rest of my life such as, to always work your hardest in anything and everything you do, never give up as anything is possible if you believe in it and treat everyone with endless kindness and respect.
Although his time here on earth has come to end, I will always appreciate and admire the beautiful memories, exceptional teachings and endless laughs I had with him. My whole life I looked up to him and saw him as a strong fighter, even through his toughest times.
Richard Brunet was an extraordinary man and was and still is someone I am beyond proud to call my greatest idol, my own superhero and my best friend.
I love you forever and always papa.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of your father. He was a great mentor and always had time to spend with students of his trade. I remember meeting him for the first time early in my career and he left a lasting impression as a classy and warm individual, a trait that he passed on to the son that i know and everyone in his clan i am certain. We share your sorrow and know that such a loss leaves an emptiness in your lives and that of all that knew him. We trust that all the memories he leaves and the courage that he displayed during his difficult journey will serve to lighten your loss.

My dad was someone who was extremely kind, thoughtful and carrying. He always made time for others. He had an open door policy and would take time to listen instead of talk, which was one of his biggest qualities. He impacted the lives of everyone he encountered. I try everyday to be the man, father, son and friend he was. Life will not be the same without him. We lost a respectable loving person on Saturday, which the world needs more of.
He loved his family and friends especially his wife and grandkids who lifted his spirits, made him smile and laugh. He taught us many things but most importantly to be kind to others. You are a true inspiration and I love you for that.
My father looked at cancer in the eye over his 9 year battle as he overcame all odds because of one belief.."Never Give Up".
Until we see each other again. You will always be in our heart.
