Obituary of Barbara Jean Louise Croxford
“Barbara Jean Louise (McCord) Croxford passed away at the age of 82 at Henley Place in London, on Saturday July 18th, 2020, after a short battle with pneumonia and long battle with Alzheimer’s. Barb is predeceased by her loving husband Mike Croxford and is survived by her children Patty Williams (Glenn Williams), Rob Croxford (David Carew) and her grandchildren Nicole Williams (John Kier) and Jeff Williams as well as her many relatives and friends.
Barb grew up on the family farm in Port Burwell with her (predeceased) siblings Helen, George, Ruth and Jack. She loved her dog Peggy and driving the tractor. As a teenager, she found her life’s passion: teaching, which lead to a career that lasted almost 40 years. In 1960 she taught the first “Behaviour Disability” class in Ontario. She went on to teach grade one at Chelsea Ave, and Trafalgar Public School. She was respected and beloved by both students, parents and her fellow teachers. Her passion for teaching, and commitment to learning made her an inspiration to many young minds and her peers. She was a hard worker, but also mischievous & fun. She was always surrounded with good friends and loved playing cards and travelling the world.
Due to the current health climate - and much to Barb’s dismay (we assume) we won’t be able to have a big party to celebrate her life. You may view and comment on a tribute page atwoodlandcemetery.ca - where donations will be accepted (in lieu of flowers) to The Alzheimer’s Association of London. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring and supportive team at Henley Place. The extraordinary kindness she (and her family) received meant that her last years were filled with love and compassion.”
