My memories of John date back to my early childhood in the 60's when he was courting our sister Anne, in Kirkby near Liverpool. My dad used to march her in after a peck on the cheek on the front step and he'd head off home up Cawthorne Avenue. Ruth and I would be in bed and we delighted in hearing Kim Simpson (a local mongrel) giving him what for as he passed his house and John responding angrily, it amused us no end. I also remember his grey mini van, which I threw up all over on the East Lancashire Road on our way to their first home in Wigan. Then came the yellow Viva, his pride and joy for many years. John was a big personality, loud and opinionated and very warm and funny, he said what he meant and meant what he said. He and Anne built a great life for themselves and their girls, in Canada and we didn't see as much of them as we would have liked but they never changed who they were and hopefully they are reunited now to carry on . As you were Anne and John, you'll always be remembered with love and affection, Lilian Xxx
