Obituary of Douglas Asa Willsie

WILLSIE, Douglas Asa passed peacefully on May 17, in his 86th year.

Beloved husband for 62 years of Marlene Ruth (Clarke), devoted father to Mark Douglas (Susan) and Sherry Lynn (Darren Clarke), and extremely proud grandfather of Emilia, Janoah and Adelheid Willsie.

Survived by his loved brother Kenneth Ian (Mary) of Waterloo, brother-in-law Charles Clarke (Kevin Hart), Fred Clarke and James & Linda Barrett, Uncle to Jeff and Susan Willsie and Jenny Lynn Barrett, 5 great nieces and numerous cousins.

Predeceased by his parents Asa & Margaret (Santo) and in laws Gordon & Jennie Clarke (Berdan).

Long time friend to Ralph & Betty Grein, Max MacDonald and Walter Noble.

Doug was a man of many talents and activities.  He loved walking and bird watching, the water, boating and scuba diving, reading and keeping up with the news especially about space, played cards and scrabble, was a poet and dabbled in painting, was an accomplished woodworker and loved being in the workshop creating wooden boxes with secret openings or doing projects for family or friends.  His love of travel was well known as his wide brimmed hat with numerous pins from around the world will attest to.

Doug did not want a funeral and cremation has taken place.  There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
